About Us

BFA believes OHS consultancy must “Keep it Simple” – too much OHS brainpower goes into models that don’t work. Simple practices, simple messages, simple safety management systems, and simple safety audits. Safety is not rocket science – it requires people to be in a safe environment and to behave safely. OHS consultancy too often is too expensive and too complicated. BFA is about WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY THAT WORKS.

Bill Fitzgerald, the principal consultant within BFA is known throughout the public health system in Victoria and the private health and laboratory industry throughout Australia due to his professional exposure in excess of 14 years in the health industry.

Acting as a National OHS Manager of organisations with multiple sites in all states and overseas he has a wealth of knowledge not only of the health industry but of OHS, compensation premium management, injury management and large and small business safety applying in all Australian jurisdictions.

That same exposure also included a portfolio of smaller operations throughout mainland Australia – micro and small businesses operating within the larger corporate umbrella – similar in operation to a franchise model.  He therefore has developed an extensive understanding of the challenges that harmonisation and OHS legislation pose for small and medium business and has built safety systems that are specifically designed for the small business environment.  Bill Fitzgerald and Associates is an approved provider for WorkSafe Victoria’s Essentials safety program for small business.  Use the following link to apply – and we invite you to nominate BFA as your preferred provider!

For large businesses- In 30 + years of OHS and injury management Bill has developed a wide spread of knowledge but if he is “expert” at any one thing it is his ability to make compensation premium management understandable to a business and how to use that knowledge to address safety systems, injury management structures and OHS audit operations to have greatest impact on reducing the number and impact on people of workplace injuries, and on businesses, those premiums.
